Oakland Panthers Look to Stalk IFL Prey

The Oakland Panthers are already one of my favorite stories of the Indoor Football League (IFL) this year as the team is partially-owned by NFL legend and local hero Marshawn Lynch. An owner alone does not make a team successful though. Luckily for Oakland, they have the talent to help them in their inaugural season.

Oakland’s offense already has some cornerstones to build around. At quarterback, we have Bryan Hicks. He is entering his fourth season of indoor ball as he started with Champions Indoor Football’s CenTex Cavalry back in 2017. In 2018 gained his first bit of IFL experience as he played for the Green Bay Blizzard before jumping to the Columbus Lions of the National Arena League (NAL) in 2019.

The Panthers also have an up and coming halfback with Davonte Sapp-Lynch to help establish the ground game (something that is vital in the IFL). He is coming off a stellar season with the Nebraska Danger. Throw in former NFLer and CFLer Josh Harper among other receivers and you can see an offensive powerhouse wreak havoc across the IFL.

If Oakland’s defense is able to complement the talent of the Panthers offense, I can see Oakland making a deep playoff push.
