I often talk about the Indoor Football League (IFL), National Arena League (NAL) and Champions Indoor Football (CIF), but there is a team in the American Arena League (AAL) that is looking like the Roughrider teams of years past. This team is the Louisville Xtreme.
Louisville is a city I have seen as one sorely missing a “major league” (CIF, IFL, NAL) indoor/arena team; the Xtreme of the AAL could fill that void in the near future. They are playing in the iconic Freedom Hall as the venue’s only sports tenant and have some big names involved with the franchise.
At head coach, you have industry veteran, Mark Stoute (who has been involved with the AFL, IFL, and NAL since 1995). The team has taken full advantage of the AFL’s folding, signing seven former players from the league, making them one of the most promising in the AAL this upcoming season.
There are some improvements I feel the team would need to make before jumping up to the NAL (or IFL if they move that far east) would be the team’s website as it is barren at the moment. If the Xtreme can play dominant football and increase their social media presence, I could see Louisville moving up to another league soon.
